3 Ways You're Being Motivated By Your Ego

Your ego is that part of you that wants to be in control, accepted, and right. While there's nothing wrong with having an ego, it can become a problem when your ego runs the show. Here are three ways your ego may be motivating you (and what you can do instead):

1. The need to be correct.

If you're someone who always has to be correct, your ego is likely running the show. When we feel the need to be accurate, it's because we're attached to a specific outcome or perspective. This attachment can lead us to see things in black-and-white terms and to close ourselves off to new perspectives.

Instead of being driven by the need to be correct, try to let go of attachment and open yourself up to new perspectives. When you can see things from multiple angles, you'll find that there's usually some truth in each view.

2. The need for control.

If you're someone who feels the need to control everything in your life, your ego is likely running the show. When we feel the need for control, we're afraid of what might happen if we let go and allow things to unfold naturally.

Instead of being driven by the need for control, try to relax and go with the flow. When you let go of the need to control everything, you'll find that life becomes much more enjoyable.

3. The need for approval from others.

One of the most common ways our egos motivate us is through the need for approval from others. If you constantly seek validation from others, your ego is likely running the show.

When we seek approval from others, we lack self-confidence and self-worth. We think that we must be good enough if other people approve of us.

Instead of being driven by the need for approval from others, focus on approving yourself first and foremost. You'll find that you don't need anyone else's validation when you can support yourself.

These are three ways your ego may motivate you (and what you can do instead). Remember, there's nothing wrong with having an ego - but when your ego is running the show, it can lead to problems in your life. If you are motivated by any of these things, try to let go of attachment, relax and go with the flow, and focus on approving yourself first and foremost." Thanks for reading!
